Undo markup on a photo

It seems there's no way to undo markup on a photo ... yes/no? Short of "Revert to original" and start over?

I opened the marked-up image, chose Edit —> Markup, and tried to select any of my changes. I could select and remove a single markup that I'd applied after my initial changes. I could not select or in any way change any of my initial markup. I could, however, revert to original—I could take the image back to its state before I made any markups. I undid the revert to original to restore all my markups, saved the image, and backed out to my Library. When I again took it back to Edit —>> Markup, I could not select, modify, or delete any of my changes.

So I must conclude that VikingOSX is probably correct—that markups, once saved, are permanent. In this case, that's not a problem for me. This image isn't important, and I can easily create a fresh one. I suppose one lesson from this experiment is that one should duplicate the original image before applying markup. (But wouldn't it be handy to have an eraser tool. Just sayin' ... .)

Thank you one and all for your input!
