To turn off iCloud, go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.
you can toggle off any services you no longer wish to use in iCloud.
Sync your device with your Mac: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/sync-music-books-and-more-between-devices-mchlde9a31f1/mac
If you had previously synced services in iCloud (like photos, etc.), it may be best to first turn those on on your Mac and sync it. Then you can turn off iCloud in both places. Any remaining content in the cloud can be erased at iCloud.com.

Sorry for not being specific. I keep getting a notification that my iCloud is full (5GB) and if I want to purchase more storage, I can pay. I don’t need to pay; I have a MacBook Air that I don’t think anything is going in it.
I would like to stop my iPhone from going to the iCloud and would like to instead use my Air to be the source for storage. I’ve checked Google, YouTube and I’m not seeing a video that shows me step by step instructions on stopping my devices from going to iCloud and instead ask to go to my MacBook Air. Thanks!
No luck. The MacBook Air is not showing my iPhone under Devices; it shows "remote disc". I believe this is the source of the issue. Question is- how do I get the MacBook Air to recognize my iPhone XR so I can start downloading music, texts, etc. to my Air? Thanks for the assistance.
Store what? Anything in the cloud is also on your device.
I’ll definitely try this. Thank you; I’ll let you know if I am successful
