my iphone8 does not connect to the wifi and I have tried all of the suggested steps.
has anybody had success in fixing this problem?

If you have followed all of the steps in the Related Article and you still cannot connect to wi-fi, then you need to use the Get Support link at the top of the page here and contact Apple Support for service. If you have an Apple Store close by, you can use this link to schedule a Genius Bar appointment and have them check the device. www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
