I just found my apple tv 3rd generation and I want to play movies on my smart tv. Does this module allow me to do this on a smart tv? I cannot use apple tv+ on this tv. also what specific cords do I need?

You can use the Apple TV (3rd generation) with any TV that has HDMI-in. As an external HDMI device, it will bypass any smart functionality of the connected TV. Thank you for answering this. I have lost / misplaced the remote control for this device. Do you think it's worth buying one online? I have to check the model of the tv, as it's at my daughter's house. I might have more questions tomorrow :)
You may buy a replacement remote from Apple or other resellers.
The replacement remote will have to be linked to the box, or else it will ignore commands.
All you need is an HDMI cable.
