FaceTime on child’s iPad grayed out

I cannot for the life of me figure out why FaceTime is grayed out on my kid’s iPad. I do not have any restrictions on the app or any screen time restrictions. When we open the app, it prompts for credentials and has her username, however we cannot enter a password, the field is dead. Any ideas?

It seems you're having trouble enabling FaceTime and we can help.

What happens if you go to Settings > FaceTime and have a look at the settings there?

Try following along with the steps here:

If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime
