GarageBand on iPhone 13 Pro

Hi there

I’ve just received my iPhone 13 Pro and noticed that the screen is not as responsive with GarageBand compared to my iPhone X when tapping the keys. Comparing the phones side by side, it basically seems sluggish and the screen does not respond to the differences in finger pressure in the same way. You can usually test this by holding down a piano key and then pressing slightly harder to trigger the ‘sustain’ slide (the same thing does not work on the 13 Pro). I tried deleting the app and reinstalling it but this did not work. I hope it’s not a problem with the screens on the new phone as I will be returning the 13 and going back to my X! Has anyone else noticed this?

I have since spoken to Apple Support and been told that this is because 3D Touch has been replaced by Haptic Touch - which seems to be an inferior (and presumably cheaper to produce) touchscreen.

If you like taking photos then the iPhone 13 Pro is a great improvement - however I would avoid it if GarageBand is important to you. The screen is sluggish without 3D Touch and so I am thinking of sticking with my IPhone X with its superior touchscreen.

It’s a shame that there is no warning of this anywhere. I did think that the Apple brand stood for integrity and innovation but this latest discovery makes it look like they have cut too many corners - but without cutting the price.
