Gaps in Audible playback in car

My iPhone7 plays back audiobooks, podcasts etc perfectly when I am walking, but in the car it plays podcasts ok but cuts out during audiobooks. The sound disappears then 10 or 20 minutes later it comes back again several pages further on. Why is this and what can I do about it?

Hello Boudicca46,

How long have you been experiencing this problem? Is the iOS software on your iPhone 7 up-to-date? If you look in Settings > General > About, you should see 15.5 listed for the Version.  If not, create a backup of your iPhone, then update the software. Here's how: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

Do you Play audiobooks with CarPlay - Apple Support or another method?

If a Wi-Fi connection to the internet isn’t available, audiobooks play over your carrier’s cellular network, which may result in additional fees. To manage cellular data usage, see View or change cellular data settings on iPhone.

You can see that information here: Listen to audiobooks in Books on iPhone - Apple Support.

We hope this information helps you out.

Cheers!
