Folder question mother board not working in 1 year

I received folder question mark exactly in the 12 month of purchase of MacBook . With shutdown it worked twice it happens later in the 13 th month I took it to service centre and they said mother board not working as I did not regularly make updates. Since 20 days passed since warranty over Mac laptop requires replacement of motherboard at my own cost . I fail to understand such mechanical failure with apple product and 20 days warranty over happened because the covid situtation and it appeared small shutdown problem . Did anyone had similar issue ?

"Early" out of warranty failures do happen. Search this forum, and the internet in general, and you'll find numerous instances. Although not the norm, it does happen. If you have no extended warranty such as AppleCare, you are responsible for the repair cost.
