New iPhone purchase

If I purchase a new iPhone 13 from Apple, will my iphone be unlocked? If not, how do I assure I recieve it unlocked?

Hello. While selecting your iPhone 13 options, if you choose the option to "Connect on your own later" during the carrier selection screen you will receive an unlocked iPhone.

It will only be locked if you purchase it with a special program through a cellular service provider..
