Adobe Font not rendering in Numbers

I've been using Trade Gothic Next LT Pro, Regular and Bold, in a series of Numbers documents for a long time now without issue. Until last week. Bold still works fine, but the Regular version renders super condensed and unreadable.

I have the entire font family active via Adobe Fonts, so I tried deactivating/reactivating it, but that didn't fix the issue.

Through some trial and error, I've discovered that this issue is specific to Apple Works programs, like Numbers, Pages, etc. The font renders without issue in Adobe applications like InDesign, etc. If I'm in Numbers or Pages, and go to select a font in the text menu, there are quite a few that are question marks, but again, only in the Works programs.

It's just really odd given that some weights of the same font family work, but the regular version doesn't.

I'm stumped at how to resolve this issue.

Thank you Barry. The issue resolved itself after I restarted my computer (which I should have done before opening a ticket!).

That said, I think it was caused by the most recent OS update because the timing lines up. So if anyone has issues after updating, just do a restart.

Given that this issue arises only when using one of the iWork applications, you might consider filing a bug report via the Provide Numbers Feedback menu item in the Numbers menu.

Make a copy of the message before sending, edit it to fit Pages (and Keynote) and send the edited copies using the similar menu items in the application menus of those two applications.

Hi broleeaz,

Thanks for the reply. I should have thought of that possibility. The transition to Big Sur and the current versions of the iWork applications has not been the smoothest, and several of the bumps have responded positively to a restart of the applications and/or of the computer.

Restart into Safe mode has also been a useful tool.

Barry

Perhaps it's more accurate say may the transition of a small percentage of users has had some hiccoughs.

I had no problems transitioning to Big Sur and then, recently, to Monterey. In general keeping the OS up-to-date seems to create far fewer problems than trying to run recent versions of the iWork apps on old versions of MacOS.
