How to turn off my pass code

If you forgot it and cannot access the device, you cannot turn it off. Your only option is to follow the steps in the link you posted from and restore the device to remove the passcode.

If you do know the passcode and can access the device, then go to Settings->Touch ID / Face ID & Passcode and turn it off there.

Solution:

1. Open Settings
2. Click Face ID & Passcode
3. Enter current password
4. Click Turn Passcode Off

That is the Apple ID password, not the device passcode. 2 different things, unrelated to each other.
