Move iCloud Drive files

My 1TB internal drive is nearly full. Can I move all my iCloud Drive files to an external drive without any issues. If so, how do I move my iCloud Drive files to an external drive? Just drag and drop in Finder?

Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud - Apple Support

Then drag and drop the files from the location in the finder to an external hard drive see the article Connect and use other storage devices with Mac - Apple Support
