Imovie to DVD on MacBook Pro 2020

Hello, I made a video in iMovie that my parents would like on a DVD. I bought an external DVD hard drive. Can anyone recommend a program to burn iMovie to DVD on a MacBook Pro 2020? I think last time I did this, I used Idvd which isn't supported anymore. I also downloaded Aimersoft DVD Creator which doesn't appear to be compatible either. Someone at Apple store recommended VLC but I don't think that's for burning. Any and all information is much appreciated.

thanks in advance!

Final Cut Pro can produce DVD discs.

The menu functions are no where near as fancy as iDVD.

If you only want to produce a couple of DVDs you could try the FREE 90 day trial of FCP.

Nothing to pay, no credit cards to input.

It just stops working after 90 days from when you first launch the application.

Get it here from Apple...

Some info here from Apple on using FCP to create optical discs, in your case DVD discs.

That last link also tells you how to use FCP to create Blu-ray discs but you would need a Blu-ray burner ( and Blu-ray discs ).

You can also use FCP to create AVCHD discs. These are nearly as good as Blu-ray but are burnt onto DVD discs but require a Blu-ray player to play them back. ( i.e. these AVCHD discs will not play back on a DVD player even though they are burnt onto DVD discs.)

As you have already produced the movie in iMovie you would just bring it into FCP and Share to DVD following the instructions in the second link.
