I have a ton of space on my iPad. How can I backup all my stuff on it instead if iCloud?

These backups include your device settings - as well as your data.

If you want to backup your iPad data/files to other storage devices (such as USB) or cloud services, you can do so using a suitable third-part App. One of the more versatile Apps is File Browser Professional by Stratospherix:

There are also third-party backup applications that you can install on either PC and Mac computers. One of the most popular is iMazing:

You can make a backup on a Windows computer if you don’t want to use iCloud.

But as has been pointed out, the whole point of a backup is that is stored separately. It’s a safeguard against the loss of your data because something goes wrong with your iPad or you lose it.

You can backup any iOS or iPadOS device to a windows pc or a Mac for free. You’ve always been able to do that even before there even was an iCloud service.

And it is simple fact that a backup of a device on the device itself is not a backup. The device fails, gets lots or stolen, and you’ve now lost your backup as well.

Even if you could, you never want to have the backup on the same disk as the regular one. They all fail sooner or later and you would be losing both at the same time.

Updating iPad Other than on iCloud:

1. Go Here: Back up iPad - Apple Support

2. Scroll to:

• Back up iPad using your Mac
• Back up iPad using your Windows PC

3. Proceed from there as necessary

Well, you may not like my answer, but it is a fact.
