Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

a trojan ?

What happened half an hour ago… Surfing on the net, a popup showed up and warned me very heavily and severe: my Mac has been blocked and I have to call "Apple Support" within five minutes (phone 09 70 18 31 05, in France).

It looked very "Apple".

I dialed the number, and someone told me to get help, I have to pay 200 euros and a further monthly subscription.

Immediately, I cut this conversation. Shut down the Mac, restarted in safe mode and cleaned the history of Safari. Everything looks good, now.

And then my phone rang, a number in the UK (+44 24 8723 2916), "Apple Support"…

I cut this call too.

With Malware running, I feel quite safe. But, but, but…

Anybody familiar with this phone numbers?

Take care,

Peter.

All such messages are scams presented by criminals. If you didn’t allow the criminals to access your computer when you called them, no further steps are required.

The phone call you received is a result of you having previously called the scam number. In most cases, the numbers are 100% irrelevant because the scammers use number spoofing.
