Missing songs from iTunes library

Hey everyone. Lately i have noticed a few songs missing from my iTunes library which I’ve paid for in the past.

I cannot seem to get any help from apple to have my money refunded ( or at least some iTunes Store credit ), has anyone else noticed missing music from their library, and were you able to get refunded at all? If so, please tell me how to go about it, thanks

I paid to access something. I should not have to “back up” anything to ensure that my purchases don’t disappear. Regardless of whether an artist requests removal of material from iTunes or not, this should not cost the end-user who paid for it.

if it’s been paid for, it gets supplied. if it gets taken away without warning or refund, then it’s a scam.

Thankyou for convincing me to not purchase any more apple products :)

it seems like you are justifying the behaviour and it sounds ridiculous.

Apple does not reach out and remove music from your devices but people often misunderstand how some of Apple's services such as Apple Music work and then blame it on Apple. Apple does not provide a media backup service. Being able to re-download is a convenience but not something you should rely upon. If an artist no longer wants their music on Apple's site they can request it be removed and there goes your re-download and aren't you then happy you made a backup of your music collection and archived it somewhere? I have my iTunes library backed up on two separate hard drives (plus all my original CDs). I have media tracks on it that are 30 years old. I don't think I have ever lost a single media track.

Just so you remember, responses on this forum do not come from Apple. I am a user like you but a pragmatist.

I am not justifying their behavior. It makes absolutely no difference what I think. I am just pointing out to you that is what they say. If you want to take it up with official Apple Support then contact Apple for support and service --> "See a list of Apple phone numbers around the world." Apple has had an increasing tendency to hide away negative stipulations that customers may not like. It's all part of customer service psychology from all companies. (Oh dear me, did I use the word customer? I meant "guest.") It used to be in their main support documentation but has now been relegated to deep down in legal documentation. It's still there, you just have to like reading fine print (I do it so I know the answers to peple's questions like yours).

Back in 2017: "After you download your purchases, back up your iTunes library. Previous purchases might be unavailable if they've been refunded or aren't on the iTunes Store." ( https://support.apple.com/HT201272 -- now removed from this document).
