I tried to back up my iPhone 6+ to iCloud but didn't have enough space. I then paid for the 50GB storage plan but it still won't backup (and only 4.5 GB used). When I tap Backups it says I have 1 backup, but shows 0 KB. Is my phone just too old? (I have a 13 on order)

Yes, your iPhone model is old, but that doesn't mean that you can't perform a backup procedure.
What happens exactly when you try?
Are you connected to a reliable (and possibly fast) wifi network? (no VPN connections are admitted).
Thanks for reply. Reasonably fast & usually reliable AT&T wifi at home (not VPN). It seems like it's updating but when I check later it shows 0 KB. It says Next Backup Size: 21.46 GB and Last Backup: Never. Under the Back Up Now button it says "Some files were unavailable during the last backup."
I tried a couple of things from this article and something seemed to work but I'm not sure which was the "fix." Phone says "backing up" and "about 2 hours remaining." (!) Thanks.
