Full-size wireless keyboard for my iMac

I liked the touch on my old keyboard (the one in the transparent housing) better than the new one that came with my iMac. I feel like I have to pound this one to get all the letters to appear.

Can anyone suggest a full-sized wireless one that has the same touch as the old ones?

If you old one is this one....

[from the MacTracker database, free in the Mac App store]

....then it is a model A1048 and I fully get why you like it. Mrs AJ's old 2005 eMac 1.42Ghz came with the translucent board and she still uses it even though she has a much newer Mac now. That was a good one. YOU might try Amazon using the part number. A bunch were sold in bulk or "OEM" packaging for schools and business and some may still be out there, and maybe even unused.

The A1048 was made from 2003 to 2008 per MacTracker.

Thanks, but the problem with that is you can't test them. I'm hoping for someone with a similar complaint to recommend something that worked for them.

I see two problems, one, "touch" is subjective so what worked for someone may not work for you. The other issue is, no third-party keyboard has the same mapping as an Apple keyboard.

Do you happen to own one? I have keyboards from Logitech, Matias & Satechi. I don't own that specific Logitech model but the one I have, a Logitech K750 is not mapped the same. For example, in Monterey, "Fn+Q" should bring up a Quick Note, it doesn't. As a matter of fact the "Fn" key isn't recognized at all. Maybe the one you posted is different.

I realize that we are dealing with personal perceptions of boards. I find the Matias Tactile Pro feels more like the old Mac boards, especially the late, great "Nimitz" M3501 board (nicknamed for it size, which is reminiscent of the flight deck of a nuclear aircraft carrier. Like the Nimitz, the Tactile Pro has discrete ALPS mech switches instead fo the more common and mushy membrane-type boards.

Matias also makes less expensive models:

I had a similar finding as you with the Magic Keyboard that came with my 2017 iMac—key pressure varies from on to another so, if you are crazy so am I! I need to resurrect my old Matias but have to make room for it!

Following up on den.thed's suggestion that I just get an old keyboard since that's what I'm comfortable with, I contacted a small, local Mac shop that's been around forever to see if he has one. He also talked about switches and will look into his stock and get back to me next week.

I don't know the model name of my old board -- it was the one in the transparent plastic housing. I just looked at the matias page. That tactilepro looks just like my old one. The cheaper board looks like the new Apple board I don't like.

My plan now is to see if my local shop has an old-model board. If he doesn't, I'd say the matias one is for me. But I will also take Kku4hx's hint and ask Apple if my keyboard is defective.

Thanks to everyone's input it looks like I'm getting closer to solving this annoying problem.
