How can I use the terminal to convert pages documents to .txt files?

I am trying to learn the terminal, and I want to convert a large amount of .pages files to .txt (or secondarily .docx) files.

I read an earlier post about using an apple script, but it didn't work for my Mac OS Catalina V 10.15.3

I'm open to an alternative to terminal, just trying to gain proficiency.

thanks!

Pages document content can be exported as Plain Text, or Word .docx via the File menu > Export To sub-menu. There are no command-line tools in the Terminal that can convert Pages documents to any format. It must be done from within the application.
