iPhone 13 mini - depth of field shots without people

Hi -

I'm about to get one the 13 mini but want to make sure it has the option of controlling depth of field on a subject that isn't a person (food shots for example). Can anyone confirm it. I've seen a you tube vid saying its doable in portrait mode, that you tap the subject to remain in focus and can use the fstop controls from there, but it doesn't actually show the finished result and also want to make sure the mini has the option and not just the 13.

(I currently have the se and its not an option when there isn't a person in the composition from what i have found)
