Apple CarPlay on Mitsubishi Outlander

I have a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander and CarPlay worked fine until iOS15. Since then, there has been a really annoying fault with Messages. When I try to text somebody, Siri asks “What do you want to say?” but whatever I dictate, the message includes the word “Say” at the beginning. When it asks if I’m ready to send the message, if I say “no” it usually sends it anyway.

If I’m replying to a message and Siri says “Go Ahead”, I don’t get a chance to dictate a message as it sends the words “go ahead”.

I’ve tried my phone on a different car (a Renault Zoe) and it works fine so it’s clearly a problem with the Mitsubishi unit but it’s very frustrating as there have been no problems up till now. I’ve searched online and can’t find a solution to this but I find it hard to believe I’m the only one having this issue. Any advice would be very welcome.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Upon review of your post, it seems that you are running into an issue using Siri and CarPlay in your vehicle. We can see why you’d want this taken care of, so let us help from here! You’ve done some great troubleshooting already. Testing this issue in another vehicle was a good move. Since your iPhone (and Siri) appear to be working as expected in that test vehicle, this tells us the issue may be with your Mitsubishi. It’s possible there is a compatibility software update needed for your vehicle. We’d advise reaching tout to Mitsubishi support directly to discuss that further. This seems to be fixed in iOS 15.3 (fingers crossed!)

I have a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander and I have the same issue . I’ve contacted apple support several times no fix for it. I contacted Mitsubishi corporate no fix, contacted my dealership no updates available for my vehicle so again no fix.

Mine too works fine in my husbands GMC truck.

my issue started with iOS 15 update

I think if enough people call Apple support and report/complain about this issue, maybe Apple will resolve it

Yes, Mitsubishi seems unable to fix this and it’s something which has happened since ios15 so it does seem that Apple could could do something to revert to the way it worked before the iOS update. It is very frustrating as it’s a feature I use a lot but currently it’s unusable.

As you’ll see from the replies, Mitsubishi claim there is no update available for the entertainment. Can you please advise on how to restore functionality which worked perfectly before iOS 15? Thanks.

Thank you. I have contacted Mitsubishi but it is quite frustrating that everything worked properly before this update. Hopefully they can sort this. Thanks again for your help.

Still waiting to hear back from Mitsubishi. I have seen people online saying they charge £200 to do this! Hopefully that’s wrong. Very frustrating that I will have to pay for this at all.

That’s odd. It’s working for me now. They have introduced a beep after Siri asks a question so there’s a definite pause before you can start dictating.
