RAID 1 Mirrored Disks on Monterey?

Do the LaCie terminal command instructions still work? Will it work for Monterey OS on a 2020 M1 Mac mini to mirror a pair of WD elements 6 TB 3.5” external HDDs connected to the USB-C ports? Will Time Machine recognize these and successfully back up to them?

RAID 1 mirror for Time Machine backups on 2 external hard drives? I'm using two external HDDs formatted as MacOS Extended Journaled for backing up Time Machine. Can I set one of them as a RAID 1 mirror? I'd like to be able to backup Time Machine to one hard drive and have a mirror image copied onto the 2nd external hard drive. I'm recovering from a freak accident where I deleted my files and now I'm extra cautious about having more than one backup.

RAID Knowledge Refresh Needed Hello! My brain is blanking and I could use some help. I recently upgraded from a Mid-2012 MBP to a 2018 MBP. Obviously all hardwired peripherals now attach via USB-C / TB-3. I have x2 CRU RTX-220 Enclosures, each holding x2 4TB drives in RAID 1 with FireWire connections. The RAID was setup and controlled by the enclosure. I recently purchased an Oyen Mobius Pro 2C 2-Bay USB-C RAID Hard Drive Enclosure which I believe also utilizes a hardware RAID setup. I popped x2 drives from an RTX enclosure into the Oyen and now 2 mirrored drives are showing up in Finder (this is good!). Questions: There's no way to "import" the RAID 1 setup from the previous enclosure, correct? This new enclosure uses a new chipset, etc. When I tell the Oyen to create a RAID 1, will all current data on the drives be erased? If #2=yes, then I must transfer all the data from the RTX to the Oyen after the Oyen has created it's RAID array and erased the current data, correct? If there's another way to go about this, I'm all ears. Thank you!

External hard drives compatible with Catalina I'm looking for something in the 12 TB range as a backup to an external raid (Promise pegasus 2nd gen). Oddly enough the promise works fine after going to Catalina but I heard numerous reports of other brands having issues. Looking for something relatively inexpensive. Was going to go for a WD my book but started reading of issues. Any suggestions?

From Terminal, type

man diskutil

and scroll a ways down until you get to "apple raid" . Tells you what you need to know.

Thanks a bunch. I don't yet have my new M1 Mac mini but this is most helpful. I can even see this on my current (mid) 2011 iMac running High Sierra (10.13.6).
