Force sync of iPhone contacts to iCloud?

Last month I deleted a bunch of what I thought were duplicate contact records from my iPhone, but now I see they’re gone from all my Apple devices (Contacts are synced via iCloud on each one) EXCEPT my iPhone as they still show up under the “All iPhone” group. How do I force syncing them to iCloud so I can get them back on all my devices? I tried using the Restore Contacts feature from the online iCloud.com

but the backups only go back to the end of October and I musta deleted the dupes before then.

Norte: the dupes in my Contacts only showed up after an iOS update.

Hello RossAWaddell,

We see you're having an issue with your Contacts app, and we'd like to help out.

First, you can check to see if the contacts on the device are being synced via a third-party email account that was added. This will be in Settings > Contacts > Accounts. You may try using the steps here to help re-set up iCloud Contacts: Set up and use iCloud Contacts

You can try toggling iCloud Contacts off and back on, with the help of the above link, but we don't recommend signing out of iCloud at this time.

If iCloud Contacts won't sync, this page is designed to help with that: If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync

Cheers.
