Guitar not recognised by Logic Pro X

Hi,

I recently bought an audio interface: The Focusrite Scarlet Solo. I can select it as the input of my computer and I can also record my guitar in the voice memos app, but when I start Logic Pro and create an audio track, it doesn't record anything and I also can't hear anything. I made sure that I selected the right devices in the Logic Pro settings but I doesn't work. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance!

Hey there. Here is a step by step instruction for recording a guitar track into logic, using your Interface:

Connect the Interface with your Mac, while logic is running. You should get a notification whether you want to use the newly found interface for logic, you should click on yes/accept and can also check again, when going to the preferences -> audio. Here the input at least should be your desired interface. Now create an audio track, by pressing on the little plus sign next to your inspector window, or by pressing alt-cmd-A on your keyboard. Make sure your input is in fact the hardware input of your interface in the DAW.

When you select the newly made audio track, have a look at your inspector. There you can see a section where the EQ will go, when you decide to use the plugin. Directly under the EQ section you can find the input-section. Clicking on it gives you the options you have, in your case there should be only input 1 available.

Now all you need to do, is to press the "R" button shown at the track-header or above the solo-function inside the inspector window (directly under the volume-meter). it should start blinking red, meaning it is armed and ready for recording.

press "R" on your keyboard to start recording. Now there should be a signal coming through. If you want to hear your guitar whilst recording, press the input-monitoring button.

Hope i could help. There are a ton of videos out there that maybe can help you as well. (musictechhelpguy is a very good youtube channel for logic basics)
