How can I find/replace special characters in Pages?

In MS Office apps, I can search for and replace special characters like tab and paragraph by typing ^t and ^p into the find/replace dialogs. Entering 'tab' just takes me from find to replace box without entering the character; ^t doesn't work; and copying and pasting from one dialog that shows an arrow symbol for tab function enters 'the Tab symbol' and that text is not found in my document. I assume there is a simple way to do this in Pages.....but I'm not finding it.

Hi Donot Haveone,

Type:

\t tab

\n newline (paragraph mark)

\i soft return (shift return)

Or, select a special character and Menu > Edit > Find > Use Selection for Find (command E).

Also allows Use Selection for Replace.

Regards,

Ian.
