1080i for external monitor

When connected to an external monitor my iMac (2019, running Monterey) does not give me the option of 1080i, only 1080p. Therefore the monitor displays random chunks of the image. It used to work fine. The external monitor is a Video Switcher and can't be easily replaced.

Additional 5K monitor for iMac27 2017 I connected an additional 5K Samsung ViewFinity S90PC monitor to my 2017 iMac27 using a Thunderbolt cable. The picture on the monitor is terrible. What could be the problem and is there a solution? I tried several different Thunderbolt cables. MacBook 2021 works great with this monitor.

Does the monitor have HDMI, VGA and DVI inputs? If so try each port to see if it solves your problem.

Just for information my M1 iMac happily displays video on external displays using both VGA and DVI to 1080.
