How can I use my Apple air tag to find my iPod or iPhone?
Is it possible to use my Apple air tag to find my iPod or iPhone since it can't be attached to either?

No -- you use Find My to find your iPod or iPhone; no AirTag is needed to do that. See the following:
Set up Find My on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac - Apple Support
After that is set up, you can use any internet browser and go to www.icloud.com/find to locate the device.
