With using the Logitech Crayon, it appears that you don't have to pair it with your iPad or connect via Bluetooth for it to work. You'll want to be sure it's charged by checking the LED light, but that should be the only thing you'll need to check. If you have an Apple Pencil or other device connected via Bluetooth, it seems you may need to turn Bluetooth off for the Logitech Crayon to work.
