My AirPods are only connecting to one AirPod, and not both at the same time.

It’s been around for about a year now, and I just found my AirPods. When I try and connect both of them at the same time, only one will connect. I think it is a issue the AirPods telling if it is inside of my ear, but I am not sure

iPhone 12, iOS 14
