I cannot sign out of iCloud on my old MacBook Air because it says the computer cannot connect to the Apple ID server. I am trying to erase the Mac to give to a relative.

I've seen a few posts on this recently. So, try again in a few. See if it then connects. The server may be too busy. Don't for get about what it going on: Covid. With many at home, Internet Service Providers are doing the best they can to cope with high use.
