Hi
For several days, Gmail and iPhone Mail apps reflect unread messages, which are not visible on opening the apps. The error message “no connection” appears. I have removed and reinstalled both apps, and reset my WiFi modem, to no avail. Please help!

Do you have the same email account(s) set up in both apps or are we working with different email accounts? We ask that to determine if perhaps the message is related to the account and not the apps. A clarification, please do not provide us the email address, we don’t need that.
Do you notice the same situation on both Wi-Fi and cellular data?

I have the same email account in both apps and the same issue on both WiFi and mobile data.
That said, the problem seems to have resolved itself, after several frustrating days.
