Do I need a dongle with ethernet port

Assuming you did not buy the base-model, your iMac should have an ethernet port located on the bulky AC adapter.
If you purchased the base model, then you can purchase a dongle from Apple here:

If you just received a new iMac, an option is to return your iMac if it's within the 14-day window, and pick up a new iMac with the built-in ethernet adapter.
I asked the Apple person and he did not say anything I also had requested a purple iMac and he ordered a blue one now that I have realized that I’m going to make an exchange and when it comes I can address the issue thank you for telling me and confirming about the ether net as part of the power cord. Also do you know if this iMac will support to external monitors
No you need to buy one that has the power adapter with the Ethernet port built into the power adapter. Assuming you bought the iMac yourself, you did not pay attention when buying it.
Only one external display is supported.
You have 14 days to return it from the time of purchase, the good news is Apple is extending that time frame for the holiday season. The 24" M1 based iMacs will support 1 external display only.
