The first Apple wireless mouse I can find is the A1015 (2003-2006).


There was a wireless version of the "Mighty Mouse" as model A1197 (2006-2009)


The A1296 (2009-2015) is the first "First Generation Magic Mouse," the one mentioned in the article from which you came. It is wireless. It will not have scroll functions when used on an iPad.


The A1296 was replaced by the A1657 "Magic Mouse 2" in Oct 2015 and is still in production. It would be best for full function as described in the article you found.
