When you say "ampersand", do you really mean this symbol: &. ? Or is your problem actually making this symbol: @ , which is called the "at sign"? Because no keyboard that I know of puts & on the 2 key.


If your problem is in fact how to make @, you need to go to system preferences > keyboard > input sources and make sure you have only ONE item on that list, and that the name of that item corresponds to the language of your keyboard.


When you get " instead of @ for option 2, one possibility is that you have mistakenly got "Spanish" or "Latin American" on your list. The correct keyboard is called "Spanish ISO". Use the + button to add it and the - button to remove "Spanish".


If your keyboard is not for Spanish, you need to tell us what it is, because there are dozens of different ones.
