Move To iOS app transfer error solutions

I tried following all these steps, but every time I got to the transfer part, it never asked me to connect to a temporary iOS wifi.

• I had to remove and forget all my wifi networks (not sure this had anything to do with it though)
• Remove auto re-connect to the wifi on my Android phone
• I completely disconnected from the wifi on my Android
• Got the transfer code on my iPhone
• Put the transfer code in on my Android on the Move to iOS app (without being connected to wifi)
• Only after doing all of this did it ask to connect to the temporary iOS wifi and allow me to start the transfer

I would always get to the transfer part, see an estimate, but it would always fail. Only after I did the above did it actually prompt me to connect to the iOS network. Still don't know if the transfer will succeed though, as I'm currently doing the transfer while writing this.

I could get the temporary network connection and some data transferred, but it never completed.

Here's what finally worked for me. I have an older Android so I decided to try installing an older version of Move to IOS to transfer just my messages. It worked perfectly the first time.

In my case, I have a Pixel 3a circa 2019, so used Move to IOS v3.1.1 from early 2020. There are online sites that host older versions of apps, you may have to override chrome telling you it can't validate the developer. I was getting rid of the phone so wasn't concerned about that.

Thanks for these steps. I was still having trouble after repeated attempts. What finally worked for me was removing the SIM from my old device and making sure there wasn't one in the new one. After I did that, it only took about 45 minutes from start to finish to transfer roughly 12GB of data from a Moto g6 to an iPhone Xr.

I just put an orange on my iPhone screen because the phone tends to register the orange skin and human touch as the same. It saved a lot of agonies trying to keep the phone off standby.

I had issues using the current version (3.3.1) of the Move to iOS app not transferring over all texts correctly. After reading the responses to this, uninstalling the app and then finding/installing a previous version of the app from the web worked perfectly. I used version 3.0.0 from the uptodown.com website. Hopefully this helps someone else!

Hey everyone. I had the same issue. Spent the good half of a day trying to fix this until I realised there's no point using move to iOS. After trying all the aforementioned tips and not having any progress, I decided to finally give in to the paid softwares. So far, I haven't found anything that does the transfer from android to iOS for free (except move to iOS of course, which for me was not working at all). Anyway, I decided to buy an app called mobiletrans and that ended up doing it for me. I paid around $4 for the app (the low price is why I decided to go for it, since everything else was like $40 for a yearly subscription). Note that I live in India, so the prices may be different in different regions. Anyway that ended up working for me and was $4 well spent because I stopped wasting time on finding ways to make move to iOS work and it saved me some frustration too. Oh and it also helped transfer my Whatsapp data. Hope this helps.

While I agree about the move to iOS being a pain, my iPhone didn’t seem to have any of the bugs (it’s an iPhone 13). It seems like the best option (if the move to iOS app isn’t working) is an external app that’ll let you send data (I used MobileTrans). These are usually paid.

Yes, this has been overwhelmingly successful. I posted this solve several months back with a link and it was taken down a few weeks ago by the moderator. Pity because it is what has seemed to work for everyone, including myself.

Personally, I found an old version of the Move to IOS app for Android and it finally worked - first try. Apple must've broken it in one of the updates.

It's not recommended to download or install old apps that aren't from a verified Play Store, so all I can say is:

• Factually, it worked and was the solution for me.
• It is heavily discouraged by Apple.

Even this doesn’t work - we are seeing the temporary network in Connections settings but it wants a password! Do we need to enable notifications for the Move to iOS app on the Android side to get the request to join the temporary network?

Thanks your guide is very helpful and helped me get through a lot of unexplained error messages, but now I've reached the most frustrating one of all. Twice now I've done the process all the way through, keeping the iPhone off standby by tapping the screen every 2 minutes for an hour and thirty minutes but when I get to Time remaining: 1 minute the progress bar freezes and I get a Transfer Error on my Android device. I have no idea what else to do, this whole process is extremely frustrating and I hope they fix it soon.

Hi All. Despite trying all the above options was never able to click on the item temporary wifi network icon, although my android phone was showing the iPhone id in the wifi network to which it was connected to! At least 6 failed to complete transfer attempts . Tried to leave out certain transfer options but it seemed to make no difference. Usually failed in the last 10 minutes of the transfer process. Eventually it did complete the process and I know of no reason why it did eventually complete .

Spoke to Apple help who said that the problem is you have 2 completely different phone systems so making them talk to one another is extremely difficult and in their research 50% of users fail to be successful. They ,Apple, had no input in the production of the Move to IOS app so can only help to get round the problem by helping customers to do a manual transfer if all else fails.
