I have an iPad generation 2, and was given a generation 2 pencil as a gift. Will I be able to return it and replace it with a generation one? and will that pair with my iPad?

I was given a generation 2 pencil as a gift, and need a generation 1. Can it be exchanged?

You will need to seek assistance from the purchaser - as, unless you have gift receipt from whichever retailer was used, only they will be able to return and exchange the Pencil.

Apple will not exchange items purchased through independent resellers.
