My MacBook Air cannot detect an external monitor that it used to detect.

My MacBook Air cannot detect an external monitor that it used to detect. I have tried all suggestions I found online. I even bought a new adapter, but that still does not help. While my MacBook Air does not recognize this monitor, my MacBook Pro recognizes the same monitor.
