can't sort by name in open/save dialog

I have a list of dozens of files, named sequentially. until recently, I've been able to hit command-O and sort them by name, so that if I needed to find file 0027, I'd just scroll down until I got to that number. now it sorts by "yesterday," "previous 7 days," "previous 30 days" and so on. It gives me the options to include:

Date modified

Date Created

Date Last Opened

Date Added

Size

Kind

version

Comments

and Tag

but no name. What's going on here? is this fixable?
