iPhone 8 plus stuck on mute....

My iPhone 8 Plus suddenly today is stuck on mute. If I try to make a call mute is on immediately, and I can't deselect it (and no-one can hear me, it's not just a fault with the display).

I've tried everything suggested on here:

I've done three hard resets and updated my phone.

Has not fixed the problem, any ideas? Need my phone for work tomorrow!

Hello MiniMum97,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with your iPhone 8 muting when receiving a call. The related article at the top of the page is a great resource to bring you here to get help. It sounds like there is an issue with your microphone. To start, follow the guidance listed here to see if it resolves the issue: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Thanks for responding. Just tried all of that in the article you linked to, but it has not resolved the problem.

To be absolutely clear, the issue is that when I make or receive a call, the phone is muted and this is indicated by the microphone button being crossed through on the screen that appears when you make or receive a call. If I try to press that button, nothing happens, the phone remains on mute, with the microphone crossed through icon/button.

Many thanks
