FaceTime doesn’t sit in the corner?

When using FaceTime with another app it doesn’t allow me to put it in the bottom corner. Instead, it either slides to the top or sits in the middle left or right. Is this a feature I can turn off? Or am I just stuck with the shoddy programming. Seems nonsensical to remove the ability to put a call in the corner, so maybe I am missing something?
