Driving warning when the car isn’t even on

Sitting in my workshop next to the car and occasionally the phone gives me the driving warning.

I am sitting in a chair, obviously not going very fast. The car is off, under its cover. We only own one car and I only own one phone so there is no possibility that it is another car.

Why does my phone think I am driving when the car is off and parked?

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 15

My first visit with these is usually with the key-switch, if one of those is present and has an accessory position. Wear on those (particularly mechanical) switches causes all sorts of “fun”.

If it’s newer and (more) electronic, the ECM is a potential culprit.

After that, it’s deeper into the service manual, with a meter and tracing the wiring.

But by all appearances, your car radio is getting power (somehow), and that’s unexpected.
