How do I shrink the iCal sidebar?

IPad Pro 10.5” running 15.1

The sidebar on iCal showed up unbidden after update and I can’t figure out how to make it go away, or at least shrink it down. It’s there in all views but there is no button to click to hide it. What am I missing?

The Calendar sidebar will be visible if any of the four red icons at top left have been made active - each showing a different sidebar view. The current sidebar view will be highlighted; simply tap the highlighted icon to hide the sidebar.
