why can't I download music on Safari?

I found the answer. If I click on a song or story while I press "control" then click on "download linked file" the item will be downloaded directly to "show downloads" in the upper right corner.

I used to click on an old time radio story and it would automatically download into the download symbol in the upper right of the screen. This no longer happens. The story will play but not download. I used to download from Zoot Radio and a few other spots that I found as good and reliable sites. I can download with Google Chrome, but I prefer Safari.
