Trouble connecting SSD to iPhone (USB 3.0 Adapter)

Hello!

I just bought a 2 TB Crucial X8 SSD and a "Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter".

With it I was able to connect it via the Adapter to my iPad Pro 10.5" without any problems (with power connected to the adapter and a USB-A to USB-C cable (the one delivered in the box) to the adapter).

Now I tried to do the same thing on my iPhone 12 and nothing showed up in the Files app.

I tried following solutions, but none worked:

  • Updating the Adapter (Pop-Up automatically appeared)
  • Using different USB-A to USB-C cables
  • Restarting iPhone
  • Using different lightning cables and USB adapters (incl. a power bank)

Did anyone experience similar issues? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this problem?

Versions:

iPhone 12: iOS 15.1.1

iPad Pro 10.5: iPadOS 15.0.3

UPDATE: FIXED

I managed to connect Crucial X8 to iPhone (lightning). All is because adapter gives power only to iPhone and no to SSD. So it is necessary to use between adapter and SSD ActivUsbHub with external power (cost about $10). Then SSD Crucial X8 works OK.
