Macbook Pro clicking consistently every 5 seconds

My mid 2014 Macbook pro, running macOS Big Sur 11.6.1 makes a clicking noise every 5 seconds. It's the same noise (few clicks) every 5 seconds and does this from the second I open the laptop to about a minute after I close it. It's been happening for a while and I've been putting off fixing the issue (which doesn't seem to affect performance at all), but the noise is really starting to irritate me. I can't think of anything specific that caused this. Any thoughts?

Where is the click coming from is it closer to the fans at the back or more towards the front ... Does it sound metallic ?

Hi Sonicry,

Thanks for your reply. I have reset the PRAM and SMC then ran the diagnostics and it came back with PPF004. Haven’t done the disk utility repair yet though.

I took a video of the noise but can’t seem to post a video on here. If you send me your email, I’d be happy to send it along so you can hear what I’m dealing with. Let me know if you have any further thoughts.
