can you back up messages?

Got new phone , got all my photos & contacts , but none of my old texts . Can I get those back ?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. Congrats on your new iPhone! We can understand why you’d want your messages to transfer as well as your other data.

Do you use Messages in iCloud? If so, check out: Use Messages in iCloud

If not, you would need to create a backup, containing the messages, and then restore that backup to your new iPhone.
