how to factory reset without keyboard?

Hello,

I'm trying to factory reset my MacBook Air 2017.

But looks like Shift key is kept on. (when press keys at browser etc. , it's all in capital. when press command + Q to close app, it tries to shut down (works as command + shift + Q.)

To do factory reset, pressing command + R after pressing power button, it doesn't go to Utilities.

I appreciate any ideas.

p.s.

I have external keyboard for PC (USB, wireless). Tried Windows button + R instead of command + R. Didn't work. Alt + R neither.

Hello hsato,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having some issues erasing your Mac due to the Shift key being stuck.

You will need a working keyboard to erase your Mac and reinstall macOS using Use Disk Utility to erase an Intel-based Mac. Since your keyboard isn't working, it may be best to try another if available.

Take care.
