How do I configure iTunes to use Airplay from Windows 10 PC to Vizio smart tv?

As the title says, I have a PC running Windows 10, and I want to use Airplay to cast from the PC to my TV, but when I click on the Airplay icon, I get the following message: "The Airplay Device "Bedroom TV" cannot be selected for audio output. The AirPlay device is not compatible with the current AirPlay playback configuration." I have 2 Vizio TVs, a D series and a V series, and I get the same message trying to cast my music to both. The D series and my PC are wired to the router, and the V series is on the wireless side.

Windows, Windows 10

Hello RFAurora! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you’re unable to choose your Vizio TVs to AirPlay your music from iTunes. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help. Great thinking to try the steps outlined in Use AirPlay to stream audio to resolve this issue.

Apple also provides this helpful guide to assist with playing music through other devices: Choose which speakers to use in iTunes on PC

As stated in the article, with your Windows PC, you can choose:

  • Speakers connected to your computer and a power source
  • Remote speakers connected to an AirPort Express
  • An AirPlay-enabled device, including HomePod or network speakers (for example, Apple TV played through TV speakers)
  • Bluetooth devices, including wireless headphones such as AirPods

Also, check to see that your TVs are listed as compatible: iOS Home Accessories - Home

Make it a great day!
