M1 Mac mini forgets sound output settings

Hi all, Today I switched to the new M1 Mac mini. I'm very impressed. The only issue is with sound output: I have been using Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass speakers, which work fine. After plugging the jack into the Mac mini, at first the audio interface would not appear in system settings. Now it does, but sometimes macOS forgets the saved output settings and reverts back to the internal speakers.

Have you ever encountered a similar issue? Possible fixes?

Yes on M1 Mac Mini originally with Big Sur 11.6.1 and since upGraded to Monterey 12.0.

It occurred but only once while on Monterey. Use HDMI to Asus 27" with Builtin Speakers and it happened from a Cold Boot.

Just had to go into Sound Output and presto - like yourself - all fixed.
