Why I cannot search in Apple Music on MacBook?

Recently, I cannot search for music in Apple Music on my MacBook. Every time I type in something, it just shows "No result for xxx, try again." But my apple music works perfectly on my iPad and iPhone, and I type in the exact same word and can find the result there. I restarted the app and even restarted my computer, but nothing changes. What can I do? By the way, the music in my library can be synced and played.

Hello Jessicayang02,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Upon review of your post, it seems that you are unable to search within Apple Music. We can see why you’d want this taken care of, so let us help from here! Let’s start by reviewing the following article which may help: Search for music in Music on Mac.

If the issue persists, we’d advise that you put your Mac into safe mode and test. Booting into safe mode will disable any startup and login items from automatically opening, which can help us to isolate the source of the issue further. When you do this, you’ll see some unusual behavior from the display; this is to be expected. Please follow the steps in this article: How to use safe mode on your Mac.

Please let us know if you have follow up questions, so we can continue assisting. Take care!

Thanks for getting back with us, Jessicayang02. If the issue persists in safe mode, this tells us that there is not a startup program causing this behavior. Next, let's see if this behavior persists in a second user account on your Mac. If you have a second account, please log into that and see how it works. If you don't have one you can use, please follow these steps to make a test account that can be deleted later: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.

Making sure that your macOS is fully updated will be good as well: Update macOS on Mac.

Please keep us updated and we will keep investigating with you. Thanks!

Awesome troubleshooting, Jessicayang02. Thanks for taking those steps. So, we've ruled out your Apple ID, your Mac profile including the associated startup items. From here, we need to consider a possible network issue, even though other devices in your home are working. Are you able to connect your MacBook to a different Wi-Fi network temporarily for testing? If so, let's do that next.

On the right hand side, if you toggle between Your Library, Apple Music and iTunes Store, do all three come up with the same blank error? Also, if you go to Music > Preferences > Restrictions, is anything checked there?

We'll wait to hear back from you. Have a good evening.
